Weekly Rehearsals
Rehearsals are held at the SMA studio in Detroit and are essential for each group member's development. These two-hour mandatory sessions focus on mastering repertoire, applying theoretical concepts, and building group chemistry. Activities include improvisation exercises, group dynamics exploration, and understanding the unique roles of each instrument within a combo setting. The goal is to cultivate a cohesive, musically intuitive group ready to deliver a memorable live performance.
Live Performance
The program culminates in an exclusive live performance where each group takes the stage to showcase their hard work and talent. This private, invite-only event includes an opportunity to listen to and network with other groups, enjoy appetizers, and get experience performing. It's a celebratory and inspiring environment designed to highlight every group's achievements.
Live Recording
Each group's live performance will be professionally recorded, mixed, and mastered. These high-quality recordings will be shared with students to enhance their personal portfolios. Students can use these recordings to release an album, apply for competitions, or include them in college applications, giving them a polished and professional edge.
Enrolling in the Jazz Combo Program
Enrollment Cost
A non-refundable deposit of $60 is required to secure enrollment. The remaining tuition balance is due one week prior to the start of the program. The program fee includes all rehearsals, the live performance, and the recording. You can review my policies here.
